Terms of Service

1. What TargetIQ is

TargetIQ is a personal hobby project: a fun little tool that estimates scores for paper shooting targets from photographs. It was developed with the assistance of AI coding agents. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by the ISSF, NRAI, or any other sporting body, and it is not an official scoring system.

2. No warranties — provided “as is”

The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. The author and publisher make absolutely no claims or guarantees regarding the usability, availability, reliability, correctness, security, or accuracy of the app or of any score it produces. Detected scores are estimates and may be wrong; they must not be relied upon for competitions, record keeping, or any official purpose.

3. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the author, publisher, or any contributor be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the service — including any decisions made based on scores it reports — whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, and whether or not the author has been advised of the possibility of such damage. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law, and in any case shall not exceed the total amount (if any) you paid to use the service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

4. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:

• upload, submit, or transmit any content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or otherwise objectionable, or that you do not have the right to upload;
• upload content that is irrelevant to the purpose of the service (i.e. anything other than photographs of your own paper shooting targets);
• upload images depicting people in a way that infringes their privacy, or any content that is sexual, violent, or depicts minors inappropriately;
• probe, scan, overload, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, its infrastructure, other users’ accounts, or any related systems;
• use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access the service, or circumvent any rate limits, quotas, plan restrictions, or security measures;
• reverse engineer, resell, or otherwise commercially exploit the service without written permission;
• use the service to build a competing product, or in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair it.

5. Suspension, bans, and termination

We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice or liability, investigate suspected abuse and suspend, restrict, temporarily block, or permanently ban any account, and remove or refuse any content, where we believe — on any reasonable basis — that these terms have been violated, that the service is being misused, or that doing so is necessary to protect the service, other users, or any third party. Automated systems may be used to detect abuse, and enforcement decisions may be made automatically. We are under no obligation to explain, justify, reinstate, or provide advance warning of any such action, and we are not responsible for any loss resulting from it, including loss of access to your account or data.

6. Changes and availability

The service may be changed, suspended, removed, or shut down at any time, without notice and without any obligation to preserve data stored in it. Sessions, cards, and images may be deleted at any time. Do not treat TargetIQ as durable storage for your results. We may also revise these terms at any time; continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

7. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the photographs and any other content you upload, for the security of your account and credentials, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must have the right to upload anything you submit. Use the app lawfully and at your own risk.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the author, publisher, and any contributor from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the service, the content you upload, or your breach of these terms or of any law or third-party right.

9. Privacy

Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how images and data may be stored and used, including to improve the underlying AI.

10. Governing law and severability

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force, and the unenforceable provision will be applied to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Acceptance

By using TargetIQ you accept these terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
