The correct target scale
Air Pistol has a much larger black aiming mark and ring spacing than Air Rifle. Selecting Pistol loads its own ring geometry instead of stretching a Rifle model over the photograph.

A deliberate beta review loop
The overlay exposes the crop, rings and each proposed hole. You remain in control of the saved result while detection improves across different cards, lighting and shot patterns.
No mixed-event averages
Pistol sessions live under the Pistol event, keeping their scores, groups and personal progress separate from your Rifle history.
How the workflow works

Select Air Pistol beta
Choose Pistol before starting the session so the Air Pistol target dimensions and event history are used.

Use a clean, square photo
Fill the frame without cutting off the outer printed rings. Even light and a flat card give the beta detector the strongest input.

Treat detection as a draft
Compare the overlay to the original, paying particular attention to torn or overlapping groups. Correct anything that does not match the paper.

Save to Pistol history
Accepted cards contribute to the Pistol session and its event-specific dashboard rather than the Rifle record.
What to know before relying on a result
- Air Pistol detection is beta and may require more manual corrections than the established Air Rifle workflow.
- Integer paper scoring is supported; electronic-target decimal scoring is not.
- The saved score is a personal training record, not an official match result.

Its event model and workflow are available, but automatic detection is still being tuned across a wider range of Pistol cards and shooting conditions.
Will Pistol sessions affect my Rifle statistics?
No. TargetIQ separates Rifle and Pistol session histories so their target scales, scores and personal progress are not combined.
What should I do when a Pistol shot is missed?
Use the review screen to add or reposition the shot marker before saving. You can also correct the crop and target rings.
